This event has ended.
In October, we look forward to hosting our fourth art exhibition presented in partnership with the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia.
Situated in the South East Kimberley, on the edge of the Great Sandy and Tanami Deserts, Warlayirti Artists (est. 1987) represents artists from the three communities in the Kutjungka region – Kururrungka (Billiluna), Mulan and Wirramanu (Balgo). There are eight different language groups – Kukatja, Ngardi, Daru, Warlpiri, Walmajarri, Wangkajunga, Pintupi and Manyjiljarra – each with their own history and stories to tell. For this multicultural and diverse artistic group, art is part of everyday life and cultural continuity.
Warruyanta Art Centre is in Mulan community, it is a place for multi-generational artists & their families to come together in a safe environment to connect, share knowledge & welcome visitors. This exhibition is an opportunity for Walmajarri peoples to share their culture & country, and present Warruyanta Artists as an independent artistic & cultural force.
Everyone is welcome to attend the opening celebration on Friday 4th October, from 6pm.
There will be a Welcome to Country around 6:30pm and light refreshments will be served.
