You’re invited to the official opening party of Bird Years, by Anna Louise Richardson.

Aster + Asha Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Western Australian artist, Anna Louise Richardson. Bringing together works from the last eight years, the show considers how birds have woven their presence through significant moments in the artist’s life. Appearing as signs, guides and reflections, these symbolic creatures can be seen as living between worlds. This body of work explores themes of parenthood, family, preternatural experiences, and connection to place. Anna primarily works with charcoal and graphite on cement fibreboard, creating drawings that use flattened perspectives and manipulated scales to amplify emotional resonance.
About the Artist
Anna Louise Richardson is an artist and independent curator living and working on Bindjareb Nyoongar Boodja in the Peel region of Western Australia. Her drawing-based practice is grounded in personal experience and rural life. Growing up on a beef cattle farm, where she continues to live with her husband, artist Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, and their three children, Richardson’s work explores themes of parenthood, intergenerational relationships, mortality, and human-animal connection.
