This event has ended.
As part of our eclectic Cultural Programme, we are happy to announce the second in our Curator Conversation series whereby Lawson Flats seminal curator, Annika Kristensen, chats with an artist from the evolving club's art collection.
In December, we're looking forward to welcoming Nathan Beard to the Lounge for a conversation with Annika about his artistic practice. Nathan - who currently lives and works in Narrm/ Melbourne - will be in Boorloo in preparation for his upcoming solo show,
Ratana (opening at
Sweet Pea Arts on Friday 13th December).
Nathan is the Western Australian multidisciplinary artist who was commissioned to create the first ever Lawson Flats member portrait (2023) - which you can view on the landing between the ground, and first floors. It's quite spectacular, and immortalises member, Aimee Sabbatino.
These Curator Conversations aim to unveil more about the artists whose work you see throughout Lawson Flats - offering a deeper dive into their practice, including their origin story (as a visual artist, obviously), learnings they've made along the way, and other insights into the ideas and processes behind their work.
We'd love to see you there, all welcome.
5pm - Bar open to guests
6pm - Doors
6.15pm - Conversation starts (for approx. one hour)
You're welcome to stay afterwards for drinks and dinner - email our friendly
