The Woman’s Touch: 90 years of the CWA of WA cookbook
To mark nine decades of the iconic “blue book”, CWA of WA CEO Trish Langdon joins Yes, Chef! host Max Veenhuyzen for a conversation about the past, present and future of a vital (West) Australian organisation.
In 1936, the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia published the first edition of the CWA Cookery Book and Household Hints. Nine decades later and the famous “blue book” remains integral to the identity of not just the CWA, but the state of WA as a whole.
But scones – and sponges, and biscuits, and Christmas puddings – are just part of the CWA story. Since its foundation in 1924, the organisation has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people around the state. Whether they’re catering community events or housing families and helping them back on their feet, the volunteers of the CWA bring sunshine into so many peoples’ days.
For the August edition of Yes, Chef! on Monday August 24, CWA of WA CEO Trish Langdon joins Yes, Chef! host Max Veenhuyzen to talk about the past, present and future of the CWA of WA and why community and human interaction have never been more important.
Doors open from 5pm. The talk starts at 6.15pm and will run for approximately an hour including Q&A.
