For April Wine Club, Emma welcomes Lance Parkin and Kris Ambrozkiewicz, the team behind Battles - a small, exacting project working with single vineyard fruit from Margaret River, Great Southern, Geographe and the Perth Hills, alongside collaborator Richard Healy.
Founded in 2019, Battles has quickly built a reputation well beyond its scale. Tiny volumes, clear intent, and a focus on vineyard provenance above all else.
The results speak plainly: 2022 Halliday Shiraz of the Year, WAGFG Wine of the Year 2023, and a steady run of mid-to-high 90s scores across recent releases.
As Wine Advocate’s Erin Larkin notes:
