To kick off Wine Club 2026 - and in the lead-up to The Taste of Great Southern (5–8 March) - State Buildings Wine Director and Wine Club queen Emma Farrelly turns her attention south, to one of WA’s most quietly brilliant wine regions: the Great Southern.
Em invites Patrick Corbett, co-founder and Managing Director of Singlefile Wines, to share the story behind one of Denmark’s standout producers - and pour a lineup that captures the region at its best: cool-climate precision, restraint, and serious charm.
Singlefile began as a family pursuit. The idea was born during a summer in Italy, where Patrick and Pamela Corbett (then living abroad) travelled with Phil and Viv Snowden through Old World wine regions - a trip that sharpened their shared love of wine, and sparked a dream of building something together.
That dream took shape in Denmark, when Phil and Viv purchased a property with established vines - first planted in 1986 - discovered almost by chance from a neighbouring block. Singlefile was named after the resident geese, who still make their evening procession in single file down to the lake.
Today, Pat leads the winery with Pam at the helm of operations, united by the same guiding principle printed on every label: Semper Superne Nitens - the pursuit of excellence.
