The Lawson Common Room returns this August 28th! Where sharp minds and generous spirits meet—part fireside chat, part professional detour. Each month, we explore the many ways people find themselves in the law… and what they choose to do once they’re there.
This August, host Nicholas van Hattem is joined by the Hon Lindy Jenkins and Isabel Inkster.
Current Chair of the Law Reform Commission, Ms Jenkins previously served as a District Court Judge from 2001, and Supreme Court Justice from 2004 to 2020.
Isabel is solicitor at the SSO, Ciara Glennon Scholar, two time Barefaced Storyteller and 2025 Junior Woman Lawyer of the Year.
Together they will discuss Tales from the Top End – Reflections on Lindy Jenkins’ days as a prosecutor in the Northern Territory during the 1980s. How moving Sideways is Still Forward - A candid look at career progression in a profession obsessed with hierarchy, and The Reform Commissioner’s Wishlist : The Chair of the Law Reform Commission’s top ideas for reform (as well as some nitpicks and bugbears).
